Frequent Sign-Outs from C60
Why This Happens
C60 includes a default inactivity timeout that automatically signs users out after 4 hours without activity. The inactivity duration may be overwritten based on default browser settings and or internal IT security settings.
The most common trigger we see is browser tab management. When users keep C60 open in their default browser, especially alongside multiple other tabs, or with more than one C60 tab open at once. An inactive tab can get flagged by the browser as low-priority. Most modern browsers include a memory-saving or energy-saving feature that automatically suspends or removes inactive tabs from active memory to conserve system resources. When this happens to a C60 tab, it looks the same to the application as genuine inactivity, and the timeout kicks in, even if the user only stepped away briefly or was actively working in a different tab.
In short: the sign-out itself is expected behavior once the inactivity threshold is reached, but browser-level tab suspension is often the hidden reason that threshold gets triggered sooner or more often than users expect.
How to Resolve It
Adjusting your browser settings so C60 tabs stay active in the background will help reduce unexpected sign-outs.
Google Chrome
- Open Chrome Settings (three-dot menu → Settings).
- Go to Performance.
- Under Memory, check whether Memory Saver is turned on. If it is, either disable it, or click Always keep these sites active and add your C60 URL to the list.
Microsoft Edge
- Open Edge Settings (three-dot menu → Settings).
- Go to System and performance.
- Under Optimize performance, check whether Sleeping tabs is enabled. If it is, either disable it, or click Never put these sites to sleep and add your C60 URL to the list.
General Tip
Keeping C60 open in a single, dedicated tab (rather than several) and avoiding long periods of leaving it in the background can also help minimize how often the browser deprioritizes it.
